MLM - The Deadliest Killers in MLM

By: Alexander Harrison

Many of the statistics in MLM (Network Marketing) indicated that close to 95% of people fail to make money working from home. Why? Why do so many people fail? Let's look at 3 of the top killers in MLM.

MLM's 3 Deadliest Killers

Killer #1 - MLM Prospecting
Prospecting is just a word we use to describe how you find interested people for your business. For most people, this is where your upline tells you to make a list of everyone you know, and you start calling people to see who's interested in your business or products. It's not very unlike when gold prospectors would stand in a river and pan through the mud to hopefully find a golden nugget. Unfortunately, MLM prospecting can feel like that.

Can this work? Sure it can. My opinion is that calling people who aren't interested is just something that very few people are willing to do. I suppose that's why the vast majority of network marketers don't make money. They don't have anyone who's really interested to show their program to, and they don't want to start walking up to complete strangers. And a business without new interested prospects is a business that won't make money.

Killer #2 - MLM Follow Up & Closing
'Follow Up' is your ability to reach someone who is looking over your opportunity or products, and 'Closing' is your ability to help them make a decision. This is the part where many people suddenly find that their friends and family are suddenly unreachable by phone anymore. Let's face it, it's uncomfortable to call someone and ask them to make a decision about your opportunity. If they say 'No' it feels like you're being personally rejected.

If you can't successfully follow up with your prospects and close them into your business, you're not going to break even. And that's going to be the death of your business.

Killer #3 - MLM Duplication
One place I see people get very stuck in MLM is they can't seem to get anyone to duplicate. It gets so frustrating when you invest so much time and energy into someone and then they don't do what you do. They don't enroll anyone, and after a while they drop out of your business. I know I've been there. I suppose I can't blame them. I didn't really enjoy all those things I did either to enroll people. Let's face it, most of us don't want to sell people on anything, and we certainly don't want to make other people do it either.
